NEC's NeoFace Facial Recognition Technology Delivers Best-in-Class Performance in Latest NIST Testing

Irving, Texas – July 24, 2012 – NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced communication, biometrics and IT solutions, announced that NeoFace™, NEC’s facial recognition technology, achieved the highest ranking in JPEG Compression, JPEG Compression with Inter-eye Distance Reduction, JPEG 2000 Compression and JPEG 2000 Compression with Inter-eye Distance Reduction investigations performed by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and released in NIST’s Interagency Report -  NISTIR 7830 - Performance of Face Recognition Algorithms on Compressed Images.

Following the NIST 2010 Multiple Biometric Evaluation (MBE) testing, when NEC NeoFace’s algorithm demonstrated the fastest matching speed, the most-recent tests ( conclusively demonstrate superior performance of NEC NeoFace technology  in dealing with real-world, highly compressed images to as low as 2,000 bytes, and inter-eye distance of as low as 24 pixels.

Texas Department of Public Safety Partners with NEC to Launch New Criminal Identification Network

NEC biometrics solution creates powerful new mobile identification weapon for state, county and local law enforcement to fight crime across Texas

Irving, Texas – March 28, 2012 – NEC Corporation of America (NEC) ), a leading provider of innovative IT, communications, and biometrics solutions, today announced that the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) has deployed the NEC IntegraID® Mobile Identification Solution (Mobile ID).  NEC Mobile ID enables all Texas law enforcement agencies to rapidly search the Texas DPS repository and receive real time positive identification. The TxDPS Mobile ID database is configured to host biometrics information for 9 million subjects, including fingerprint feature data, demographics and photograph, if available.

Maroc Telecom's revenues for the first half declined by 0.8 percent from a year earlier to MAD 15.3 billion.

This was due to the slight decline in revenues in Morocco (-1.7%) in an intensely competitive environment, compensated partly by growth of 4.8 percent in subsidiaries' revenues. Revenues in the second quarter amounted to MAD 7.8 billion, a decline of 2.8 percent from 2010.

Moroccan operator Inwi (Wana) had 5 million mobile customers in February, one year after launch. The company reported that it had a 13.5 percent mobile market share at the end of December.
